Dufferin Hi-Land Volunteer Service Awards

The Dufferin Hi-Land Bruce Trail Club (DHBTC) runs on the strength of volunteers.

Whether it’s maintaining trails, leading hikes, organizing special events or greeting hikers at checkpoints, our organization wouldn’t exist without the support of hundreds of volunteers.

In 2025 the DHBTC introduced two new awards in recognition of the outstanding contributions of long-time volunteers Norm Wingrove and Ted Klich. These will be awarded annually to DHBTC members whose dedication and commitment have made an impact on the club, according to the criteria of the award.

TED KLICH AWARD

Ted Klich served as president of the DHBTC from 2001-2006.

He accepted the Dufferin Presidency at a crisis point when the continued existence of the club was in doubt. With energy for three, and enthusiasm for thirty, Ted revived the club, starting us on the trajectory of success that continues to this day.

In memory of Ted’s exceptional tenure as Club President, this award recognizes an individual whose exceptional service and dedication over time has had a significant impact on the mission and success of the Club.

NORM WINGROVE AWARD

Norm Wingrove volunteered with the DHBTC for fifty years.

He was stalwart, staunch, dedicated, patient, kind. A mentor, companion, pillar of strength, bedrock of reliability… these qualities Norm brought to everything he undertook.

In memory of Norm’s fifty years of exemplary volunteer service, this award recognizes individuals whose dedication and commitment, or specific achievement, during the current year, made a distinct impact on the mission and success of the club.
