We have several positions open on our Board of Directors and we are reaching out to the community for leaders to shape the future of the Dufferin Hi-Land chapter of the Bruce Trail Conservancy.

In the beginning, my awareness of the Bruce Trail was limited to walking with a group of hikers on a Tuesday morning. Our conversations were casual and friendly, and it didn’t take long for me to appreciate that the trail didn’t happen “by accident”. A dedicated group of like-minded men and women were responsible for aspects of the trail I hadn’t even considered.
When asked to serve on the Board as Club Secretary, I met a round table of knowledgeable Directors and learned the inner workings of the Club. Each Director contributes to the smooth running of this local chapter whose vision is to secure the Bruce Trail within a permanently protected natural corridor along the Niagara Escarpment.
Shared values and cooperation are core
More recently, the Club has undergone a major transformation, from grassroots to a digital organization. As the current President, I am very proud of the contribution we make to connect people to nature and actively restore and care for the land. Volunteering for the Dufferin Hi-Land Bruce Trail Club is a valuable way to give back to our growing community.
We are looking for new volunteers with knowledge + experience plus common sense in these areas:
- Treasurer
- Board Governance
- Organizing Special Events
- Communications
- Community Outreach
We meet 8 times through the year, usually the first Thursday of the month. Our AGM is in August.
We value and welcome diversity and aim to be an inclusive and accessible club.
Our mission is preserving a ribbon of wilderness, for everyone, forever.
Submit your Experience and Information to the President
We look forward to hearing from you
Susan
🥾 DHL President
Hi there,
We live on the 2nd Line West, right beside the yellow gate. I’ve been meaning to volunteer for any role. I was thinking of trail maintenance. Board of Directors may not be appropriate unless you are looking for bodies. I do have common sense. And as the artistic director of two music festivals in the past, I may be able to help with events.
I will be away August 7 – 14
Eric
Hi Eric
Thanks very much for reaching out. I believe we are looking for Grass Cutters and someone to oversee the grass cutters and trail maintenance people. I will forward your email and phone number to Carl Alexander to get in touch with you.
Can you do me a favour please and sign in through the volunteer page so I can “legally” add you in for emails 🙂
Cheers, Susan
