Woodland Plant Hike: August 15th
Join BTC Trail Ambassadors Anna and Eric (along with our own Helen Bailey) for a hike focusing on native woodland plant species, herbaceous ferns and trees. We will also identify mushrooms and birds if present and able. We will hike 3.5 km from 1st line east on main trail and then loop back on the Moss Haven side trail and main. For those wishing to continue we will then cross the road and hike approx. 1.5 km on the Rick hill section and then return to the parking lot.

Beginners’ “Introductory” Hike: September 7 (Rain Date September 21)
In a new and exciting partnership with the Dufferin County Canadian Black Association (DCCBA), Dufferin Hi-Land BTC is offering a Beginners Introduction to Hiking hike. The concept was developed after a meeting with Alethea O’Hara-Stephenson, Founder and President of DCCBA, to explore how we could collaborate for mutual benefit.
Alethea is interested in helping her members locate new and meaningful avenues to strengthen their “mind, body, and soul”. Although hiking is one way to accomplish this, Alethea was concerned that her membership may be reluctant to get involved due to inexperience. So, we have arranged a special hike for beginners, especially supporting her group.
To accommodate as many DCCBA members as possible, they will have an exclusive opportunity to register until August 16th, after which the hike will be open to BTC members.
This event will also launch our new media campaign which is being developed to increase our club’s exposure to our local communities. Watch your local media!
Bruce Trail Day: Sunday October 6 (10:00 am to 2:00 pm)
Dufferin Hi-Land Bruce Trail Club will once again host the residents of Dufferin County and beyond to celebrate Bruce Trail Day. We hope to introduce more residents to the beauty and serenity of the trail and to encourage involvement with our club as members, volunteers, sponsors, and hikers.
This event will be held at Split Rock Narrows Reserve, 755437 2nd Line EHS, Mono. We will offer activities suitable for all family members, including performances by a number of musical artists at locations spread along the Trail!
We would love to see members and their families and friends come out to support us on this very special day for both the Conservancy and our Club.

Theatre Orangeville Fundraiser – The Tip of the Iceberg: October 16
by Chris Rait, Mark Williams & Jeannine Bouw
Gordon and Archie have been friends for over 70 years, living and working in the remote fishing village of Murphy’s Harbour, Newfoundland. Through some internet research, Archie believes that he has figured out a way to physically reclaim his vigor. All that remains is the key ingredient to this elixir: Glacial ice. Gordon decides to join his mate for an excursion out to sea, where a large iceberg is drifting a few miles offshore.
Tip of the Iceberg is a story of friendship. It is filled to the brim with original folk music and laughter and projects an inspiring message of “It’s never too late.”
Theatre date: October 16, 2024. Cost is: $35 per ticket.
To buy tickets please call the Orangeville Theatre box office directly at (519) 942-3423. Please let them know you are purchasing tickets for this event for the Bruce Trail Club
